And our marathon of events continues:

Over the past few days, we were delighted to be in beautiful Rome, where we attended the final training session and all the competition days of the 9th Roma Junior Diving Cup 2026 at the famous Stadio de Nuoto venue in the Foro Italico. This year was special because we supported the event and provided towels as prizes for all the athletes on the podium.

For us, these were once again fantastic - albeit intense and exhausting - long days of competition, as the large number of participants meant that many events had to be held simultaneously, which always presents a special challenge for us.

We photographed all 20 events. As is our custom, we also took the opportunity during the breaks to capture moments here and there: group photos, fun jumps, and so on.

Please note:
The opening words of our event marathon are - unfortunately - meant quite literally, as they are every summer. All of our major events take place in June and July, which is why we’re out and about at events on nearly every weekend - most of which are long weekends (3 to 6 days of competition). Naturally, we won’t be able to edit any photos during that time. We’re just two people, not a large company with employees and dedicated editing teams.

We will try to sort and edit the photos as quickly as possible. However, this is all done manually and cannot be automated. We currently still have photos from two past events in the queue. As soon as those are finished, we will get right to work on the Roma Junior Diving Cup.

We ask for your patience - it will definitely be worth it. After all, there will be plenty of outstanding and amazing photos of your dives again! You are welcome to share individual photos on social media as long as you give/mention credits to us photographers (like: photo taken by www.sportfotos-berlin.com or link us on instagram: @sportfotos_berlin ). High-quality photos are, of course, particularly appealing and representative for active athletes on social media.

We will keep you updated on our progress and post updates in this news post.

Information for those interested:

Why does it take so long for the photos to be posted online?

1. There are only two of us, and we handle everything ourselves—from on-site photography to sorting and editing the photos, as well as bookkeeping and all administrative tasks. Unfortunately, the administrative workload has become overwhelming in recent years. We are required to document and provide more and more paperwork. The bureaucracy doesn’t care how we manage to fit all of this into our schedule.

2. The photos - usually more than 100,000 raw shots taken over several days - have to be sorted individually by hand. Imagine you have photos of 200 athletes who are constantly rotating throughout the event, and you have to sort them all individually afterward. That takes several days.

3. After that, we manually select photos for each athlete to be edited. Since many of the photos are taken in burst mode, there are naturally plenty of photos that get discarded. The photographer doesn’t capture THE perfect moment in that split second, but rather takes 20 - 30 photos and then selects the ones that best capture the moment. The rest are deleted. But here, too, everything is done by hand.

4. Once that’s done, we start editing the photos: cropping them, adjusting the exposure, bringing out shadows or darkening the background, adjusting the sharpness, and so on.

5. And only after every single photo has gone through this process is it uploaded to our server. Of course, we don’t do this photo by photo, but in batches - for example, all the photos from “Girls B,” and so on.

Hundreds of hours of work go into every event. Unfortunately, there is still no AI that can do this with even anywhere near the required level of reliability. Or maybe we just haven't found it yet.

In return, you’ll receive photos of exceptional quality - the kind you won’t find just anywhere.
